http://www.SelfEmployedAndRich?t=PerfMgmtVid

Here’s a classic technique of leadership and management, something you can immediately apply to your business and immediately spur results. For more tips, get our free 7-Day video bootcamp!

The Two-Word Secret Weapon to Effective Leadership
Performance. Management.

“Performance Management” is a term coined by Dr. Aubrey Daniels in the late 1970s to describe a technology for managing, both behavior, and results, the two critical elements of what is known as performance. As an entrepreneur and a leader it is critical in your business.

“Performance Management” includes goal setting and motivation. It means being 100% clear on what you want. It also includes “encouragement” and “rewards and consequences”. It is the single thing that can spur people on to greater accomplishments while strengthening their skills. Read that last sentence again.

What does this mean to you as a leader?

Constantly communicate your performance expectations

Set realistic but stretch goals. (This means, if you already make $1000 per week, set your goal to $2000.)

Be forgiving, but be aggressive. (Something’s just won’twork and accept it.)

WL Gore & Assoc, makers of GoreTex, the versatile and durable fabric used in outdoor products like tents and rain gear is an excellent example. When the company started, money was tight. The engineers had been working on an experiment and ended up wasting $1000 of material. They were devastated.

Mr. Gore walked in and saw the engineers with their long defeated faces and asked what’s wrong? After listening, Mr. Gore simply responded, “well, try again tomorrow. You see, Mr. Gore knew some day that the $1000 was simply an “investment” in creativity and down the road it would look minuscule. He was a true leader and understood the power of motivation and de-motivation and the importance of staying the course.

As an entrepreneur, understand the importance of keeping it positive, staying the course, and seeing the big picture. It’ll show up as results not just to the bottom line but also in the lives of those you lead.

Don’t manage anyone, but do set the bar high for expectations. Mr. Gore understood that his engineers were just “in the game.” He brought the perspective that they were all in it to “win,” and to simply try again tomorrow. Do this with your own business and watch what happens.

Performance + Management = Success.

Internet entrepreneur, Stephanie Robey shares the secrets of really thriving vs. surviving in a home based business. We all make daily choices on how we want to live our lives, you can choose to thrive. Here’s how…

Thriving And Not Just Surviving Is The Key To Starting A Small Business

As a society and a culture we are programmed to survive. Not to thrive. It takes great intellectual effort to thrive. And, it can be quite painful. Which is why most people don’t do it. What do I mean by this? It’s the ultimate in your own personal responsibility.

Let me explain… If you bought a TV you have a right to not plug it in, and therefore, you won’t get a picture. What areas of your life have you bought the TV and not plugged it in? Or worse, not plugged it in and are blaming someone else for it not having a picture on it?

It’s fear that keeps people from living a transformed life.

Fear never won a race, wrote a poem or earned a medal. Power did that. Faith did that. Power is a choice, a choice to overcome fear.

Choose to be powerful and watch your business grow. Tell that little voice in your head to sit down and shut-up. ALWAYS find a perspective that says I’m a winner.

Frustration is another daily emotion that we can choose not to struggle with…
Frustration is a gift, it’s energy and it’s up to you to turn that energy into something. Turn it into power

So, choose a fearless life. Challenge yourself, and more importantly surround yourself with fearless people in starting your small business. Soon you’ll be continually thriving rather than just surviving.

Why do some people not take action?
They buy into the system, buy the product and then it sits in their home office with the shrink-wrap still on it. I don’t know why they DON’T– but I do understand why others DO take action: they use the power of visualization meditation.

Why do some people not take action?

They buy into the system, buy the product and then it sits in their home office with the shrink-wrap still on it. I don’t know why they DON’T– but I do understand why others DO take action: they use the power of visualization meditation.

I was a graphic designer for the first fifteen years of my career. I understand visualization. I’m a visual person. When I have an idea, I “see” it before I ever write it down. I start imagining exactly what “it” looks like. It’s a ritual. I imagine my day every morning, I always have.

However, I didn’t always control it. If my day started out bad, I’d imagine it getting worse. And, guess what? It did. Proof that visualization works. Once I learned that I could just imagine my day being good everyday, guess what? I imagined it GREAT and it IS.

The same thing applies to goals. Make a commitment to yourself for daily visualization meditation on your goals. Make it a ritual in your life.

Now, the one word that separates the people who take action vs. those who don’t is “certainty”. How certain are you that you and your business are going to achieve what you got into this industry to achieve? Visualize it. That one level of certainty will change your results.

On the flip side, if you have doubt, then a level of doubt will appear in your business and guess what? People don’t buy into doubt. It’s pretty simple.

Challenge yourself: how certain are you about you and your home business? If you’re not certain then you can change it through the power of visualization meditation. It’s the 1st thing leaders do every single day. It’s been proven to work over centuries.

“Potential” is a politically correct way of saying you haven’t done squat yet. We all have potential. But your level of certainty defines the level of action you’re going to take, you’re going to obtain, and you’re going to go full circle back to reinforce the level of certainty that you have.

Visualization Meditation. Daily. See your success and see what happens.

As a society and a culture we are programmed to survive. Not to thrive. For growth in network marketing this applies as much as anything. It’s all in your head.

It takes great intellectual effort to thrive. And, it can be quite painful. Which is why most people don’t do it. We live in a culture of being a spectator. But successful network marketers understand they have to take on the source.

People blame others for not being liked. It comes from a state of judgment when in reality they are just “asleep” consciously. Well, wake up! Don’t sell out living a transformed life (like being a home based business owner) to be liked. It’s fear that keeps people from living a transformed life.

Fear never wrote a poem or cured a disease. Fear never saved a marriage or a business. It never pulled a family out of poverty. Power did that. Faith did that. Power is a choice, a choice to overcome fear.

Choose to be powerful and watch your business grow. Tell that little voice in your head to sit down and shut-up. It’s this distinction that creates leaders, that attracts people to you, respect you, and follow you. ALWAYS find a perspective that says I’m a winner.

When you’re results don’t match your expectations you get frustrated, right?

Frustration is a gift, it’s energy and it’s up to you to turn that energy into something. Turn it into power. If you think of yourself as a winner then that’s what you’ll create. If you think of yourself as a failure – guess what? You’re turning that energy into a bomb rather than rocket fuel.

Be committed to a fearless life. Surround yourself with people who live a fearless life. Choose a fearless journey. It’s the key to growth in network marketing: thriving rather than simply surviving.

When it comes to Search, Google IS God, so it’s good to keep God happy especially with your search engine optimization. Print out these 10 commandments, keep them by your desk, and you're sure to get into the pearly gates of Search Engine Optimization.

The 10 Commandments of Google Search Engine Optimization

When it comes to Search, Google IS God, so it’s good to keep God happy especially with your search engine optimization.

1. Thou shalt be relevant. Google is the most relevant content finder on the web. Focus on your audience’s passion and align your message accordingly.

2. Thou shalt listen to the people. For Google search engine optimization, Google looks at inbound links for the sites it indexes, organically. It ranks advertisers on CPC and click rate, and quality score. Basically, it’s letting search activity determine what’s popular. So, build those back links and do those surveys. Give ‘em what they want.

3. Thou shalt get to know me, first. What’s going on in the mind of your visitor? Shopping? Give them information. Buying? Give them exactly what they’re looking for. Read their minds.

4. Thou shalt be simple. KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Get to the point in your ads and deliver what you promise. Don’t forget the call-to-action (buy now). Edit, edit, edit.

5. Thou shalt not come to the party empty handed. Go to your customer… blogs, social networks, Google. Bring a gift: info, discounts, free software, etc.

6 Thou shalt not interrupt. Calling people during their dinner hour and interrupting them with stuff they don’t want is a “push” channel. Search is a pull. People raise their hand – you give them the information. See the difference?

7. Thou shalt not be an advertiser. Act like valuable content. I know a marketer that gives away his most valuable stuff. People pay big bucks for the left-overs.

8. Thou shalt test everything. Google rewards you for “trying”. Constantly split test ads and landing pages. Don’t forget your prayers.

9. Thou shalt track. Everything. It’s a sin to not know what is and isn’t working in online marketing and you’ll be severely punished.

10. Thou shalt not worship false data. Why go with your gut when you can just check with the numbers? See #9.

Amen and all that other good stuff with Google search engine optimization.

The best gorilla marketing strategy for home based business and individual consultants is to own your brand on Google. Easy enough to do by buying domains with your personal name and building content around it. Also, inserting your name into the meta tags.

The #1 Gorilla Marketing Strategy is simply to own your name (and your story) on Google. When people are introduced to your business, they’ll instantly “google” your name.

You want to make sure that YOU own the organic search results when they do. When you and all of your content is found online, you’ll look like a leader and people love to follow a leader.

The key in developing your story is to use an emotional vocabulary so your story resonates with like-minded people. Regardless of what you think about your story (and the more desperate the better), someone out there will think, “hey, that’s my story too!”

Step 1. Purchase domains for your names.
Go to a domain registrant such as GoDaddy.com.
The domain should be simple and include your full name, if possible. Also purchase additional domains that include your name plus scam, review, legal, team, and meet in addition to your name.

Step 2: Tell Your Story
Create a video and an article of you – include emotional vocabulary, words like: burned out; exhausted; flat broke; ashamed; fed up; distraught; sleepless.
Your story will verbally and visually create a picture for people of who you are.

A. First, describe who you are.
B. Then, reveal your pain and talk about the action you took.
C. Finally, address the solution.

D. Use these 3 magic keys in talking about your solutions:
1. Is it easy?
2. Does it work?
3. Can I do it?

Be sure to include a call to action: e.g..” visit our site today to change your life.”

Step 3. Distribute your story on Google.
Publish the content to your site with your “name” domains, as well as through distribution services. Or, point those domains towards specific pages with information that is relevant. Get it posted all over the web.

Now, when you create content (write an article, create a video, publish a press release) be sure to also include your name in the tags. That way, you ensure that your “work” (and proof ) shows you as the expert and your name begins to also propagate in the Search Engines.

Now, you try the #1 Gorilla Marketing Strategy.

Then we’ll jump into the bootcamp series… Day 1 reveals the most valuable pc of advice you’ll ever get.

I think this applies to anything not just home based businesses.

It’s such a simple thing. Yet, most people make the mistake of skipping it. You won’t though.

In Day 2 You’ll learn something that may scare off 97% of you.
But, then again, you wouldn’t be listening to me right now if you were one of those 97%ers. You’re going to learn why less than 1 in a 1000 ever make a 6 figure income in this industry.

Day 3 we get to talk about the stupid tax of online advertising. Oh yeah. We learned that one the hard way. Not only that but working as a VP for an online marketing agency showed me Fortune 500 companies that make this mistake daily.
Not funny at all.

Day 4 – those 3 secrets of attraction marketing. This one made us change industries all together, believe it. This is one’s game changing. I’ll give you one secret now: it starts with building a list. But, you’re going to have to watch the series to get the other two.

Day 5 – Now this is the reason we ditched our corporate jobs and went back to home based business. Yep. How to automate your marketing so you can truly enjoy the freedom that only a home based business offers…

Day 6 is our favorite topic… Cha-ching. How to turn all of those leads that you’ve generated into customers. And friends.

Yes indeed, and friends.

Finally, Day 7 – we wrap it all up.
You will have all the information you need to figure out which business is the perfect business for them. 9 good questions that you should be asking your future mentor or company before you ever spend a dime.

Merengue Salsa Classes bring the animal out, even with no sense of rhythm. Grrrrrr. I learned this dance while working in Dominican Republic. Feel the beat!

Steph takes a merengue lesson in the Dominican Republic

In July, Dave and I attended the M3 conference at the Paradisas Resort in the DR. It was really awesome. The education, the networking, the conference… all were incredible. When we weren’t learning about wealth and the economy and how to make money – we got to take advantage of the fantastic benefits of the resort. One was merengue lessons.

Funny, because I couldn’t even pronunce ma-rhen-gay. I had no idea what it was. I’m thinking salsa… close, but no cigar. So, Dave navigated me towards a young native dominican republic(an) who was teaching the dance. So, I reluctantly took part in the lessong

Boy, was I glad I did. It was so much fun – really easy and I had an awesome time.

That’s the beauty of my business. Our business. Dave and I work this business together. But, it affords us the lifestyle and the freedom to travel, meet like-minded people and learn to make our money work for us.

I’m not much of a rhythm girl … but, enjoy!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3Fo_i0U3lo]

How to turn leads into paying customers..

DAY 6: Self Employed & Rich

My Personal Favorite Topic.

Ironically, it’s the most important because it’s when:

            products are purchased

            value is exchanged

            and money is made.

Yet, the average home business owner fails to capitalize on 90% of their business’s profit potential, because they have no idea how to handle this stage correctly.

Want to know what to say to your leads?

Wish you knew how to follow up with them correctly for maximum profits and results?

That’s EXACTLY what we’re going to talk about today.

Do you recall Day 1?

    The 3-step Formula:

    Build a list.

Build a relationship with that list.

    Market to that list.

Repeat, repeat, repeat!

Well we’re at stages 2 and 3 today, and they are intimately linked. You cannot consistently make sales in stage 3, if you failed to build a relationship in stage 2.

You’ll find that 3% to 10% of your prospects just get it. The time is right for them. They’ve pro-actively gone through all of the information and they’re ready to become a part of the team immediately.

As for the rest, it’s a matter of timing. And this is where the average person drops the ball.
